Mountain chicken frog

Leptodactylus fallax

The Mountain chicken frog, or the Montserrat frog as it is also called, is one of the world’s largest frogs and can way up to one kilo.

Please note that this species cannot currently be seen in the public part of the park.

Weight: 1 kg
Length: 21 cm

It’s a nocturnal frog that thrives in damp forests and rests during the day and hunts at night. In 10 years time more then 80% of the world population has disappeared. A main threat against the species has been hunting for consumption, since the frog is considered a delicacy.

Nordens Ark’s work with the Mountain chicken frog is supported by the Swedish Postcode Lottery.
