Amazon milk frog

Trachycephalus resinifictrix

The amazon milk frog is a fairly large frog. Adult frogs are light grey in colour with brown or black banding, while juveniles will exhibit stronger contrasts. As they age, their skin develops a slightly bumpy texture.

Length: 6-10 cm

The amazon milk frog spends almost its entire life in the trees. It even lays the eggs in small puddles ofwater up in the trees.  The "milk" in the common name comes from the milky fluid these frogs excrete when stressed.

The species are native to Eastern Surinam, Guyana, Colombia, Equador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.
