Tadjik markhorCapra falconeri
It is the Tadjik markhor’s corkscrew-shaped horns that give it its Swedish name of Skruvhornsget, meaning ‘screw-horn goat’. The male’s can be up to 140 cm long while the female’s are 20 cm to 40 cm.

Tadjik markhors display supreme balance and precision as they negotiate the mountainous terrain where they live. Like other goats, they have a varied diet that includes grass, bark, leaves and buds.he females live in groups of about ten, while the males are solitary. They meet only during the mating season in late autumn. This is preceded by violent tussles between the males, the victor mating with several females.
The fabulous horns are popular among trophy-hunters and can fetch up to $1,000 a kilo on the black market.
