Swedish mountain cattle

Mountain cattle and Swedish mountain cattle share basically the same roots, but the latter remain pure and are kept separate from the breeding of white, hornless mountain cows.

Weight: 250-450 kg
Withers height: 130 cm

Swedish mountain cattle were kept as dairy cows or domestic cattle in Norrland’s remote mountain regions. They are a healthy breed with a good temperament and manage well in meagre pasture. They are often a little smaller than normal mountain cows and yield less milk.

Today’s Swedish mountain cattle originate from six different populations and have been regarded as a separate breed with their own breeding register.
