The storks have laid eggs!

The spring's first stork eggs are now nesting in the Wetlands. Each egg is worth its weight in gold for this endangered bird that became extinct in Sweden in the 1950s. As the Swedish wetlands were destroyed, the stork lost its ability to find food.
So far, 10 of our pairs have laid eggs and there may be more to come. All hatchlings are sent to the Storkprojektet i Skåne in the south of Sweden to be released into the wild in July. The work of breeding and releasing storks has been going on since 1991 and it's paid of - white storks once again live freely in Skåne.
